USING PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
|
While it's a scandal to have a wedding without a photographer, and a pretty common occurrence to see one at a party, you'd be hard-pressed to find a photographer at a meeting. But why not? You've gone to a lot of trouble to plan the perfect meeting and the more attendees remember, the more successful it was. While there's no need for pics of Greg from accounting falling asleep in the back corner, photos and video of the meeting's great moments are begging to be captured. Like the idea? Read on for our experts' tips on how best to go about documenting your next meeting and what to do with these treasures for the greatest impact.
Tips on Creating a Visual Record
- Hire a professional if you can, but if not, assign a few people with decent skills to be in charge of taking photos and videos. That way you won't be relying on the general audience to remember.
- The most obvious photo-worthy times to capture the moment are during group team-building events where there will be lots of natural smiles on display. But don't forget the casual, quiet moments too. Get a photo of the spontaneous walk around the grounds or attendees' reactions to a speaker's heartfelt story.
- Take lots and lots of pictures and lots and lots of video. There's no downside and the upside is that the more choices you have, the better the likelihood that you'll end up with enough quality photos and videos.
-
Don't just set your sights on a polished finished product. Think like a documentarian and record the behind-the-scenes moments as well, even before and after the meeting.
- Decide what you'll do with them when you're done. The go-to is a slideshow or edited video compilation, but how about a photo book keepsakes or company screen savers?
